Emily Bode founded her eponymous brand in New York in 2016. Inspired by her family's art of collecting, this young American designer expresses her taste for the past and craftsmanship by creating daring pieces that she makes from old fabrics found around the world. Each garment tells a story and is custom made in New York and New Delhi. The approach of the house is slow fashion, Bode is committed to using period materials and giving them a second life thanks to the know-how of the craftsmen who make up its workshop. The designer sources old fabrics at flea markets, from dealers, or at auctions. The collections tinged with nostalgia make up a men's wardrobe inspired by workwear where we find the values of the designer: a deep respect for history, culture and the meticulousness of craftsmanship. Emily Bode is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang University and holds a dual Bachelor of Arts and Fine Arts degree specializing in menswear and philosophy. Her notoriety took off when she won second prize from the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund in 2018 and more recently in February 2020 the first Karl Lagerfeld prize dedicated to innovation, on the occasion of the International Woolmark Prize ceremony. Bode is renewing fashion codes and managing to forge a place of responsible luxury.
